The lake is very easy to navigate. Has boat roads marked all over the lake and if you have gps you won't have any problems. The marker poles have arrows and that is the side your run. But the key to caddo is stay with in 1-2 boats wide away from the poles and when not on a marked boat lane IDLE only. I would wait till mid October for the fall bite to be full swing right now caddo is fishing very small and bites are hard to come by but only a matter of time.

Mark, Mrs. RoF and I stayed here CaddoLakeLodge to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary a few years ago. It was WONDERFUL. Now, we wanted to be somewhat secluded, and did not have a bass boat to utilize. Therefore, I'm not familiar with proximity to boat launches, nor time it takes to get from the water this lodge is on, to the main lake/other areas of Caddo lake. We went in January, and rented the actual lodge. The caboose is literally right next door, and shares a deck/dock with the lodge. However, when we went it was January, and nobody else was staying. The lodge is just a family home, so we brought our own groceries etc for the weekend. Was a short drive into town to hit the grocery store, mess around in Jefferson etc. NOT a full service/full amenities type hotel or resort, but was VERY comfortable, and the owners were incredibly nice. We got exceptional rates as well, being in the off season. At least worth a look, if that's your style.

Mark even if the fish don't bite Caddo is a beautiful place to run around. My Moms Aunt and Uncle lived on the river between Pines and Caddo. It's just a relaxing place to be. You will enjoy the lake a bite or two will just be a bonus

Just got back from Caddo with my wife last weekend. We stayed at Shady Glade. Stayed in one of their little cabins. Clean and decent. Wouldn't take her there for her honeymoon but it was nice. We had a great time. Spent more time cruising around then fishing(novel concept, but worked . Can get maps at Little "grocery" store in Uncertain and it's handy for some of the smaller obscure trails but honestly I just ran with my GPS maps most of the time. Cool to run up Government Ditch from Uncertain up to Big Cypress Bayou then upriver towards the State Park for drinks and lunch/dinner at both Big Pines Lodge and River Bend(preferred Big Pines, catfish). We even ran many miles up stream from State Park. Great scenery. Cruising and scenery are not things I waste my fishing time on but we had a great time. Sexier places to stay but Shady Glade great.

We booked a couple of nights at the Moonglow Cabins right on the lake. They are on the water, pretty rustic looking and seemed just what we were looking for. Excited to head down on Sunday. Thanks for all the great feedback and suggestions.
