Looking to add a depth finder to my Academy special Pescador 12. Would appreciate suggestions on what you guys use for yak electronics. Im in Lubbock so I fish about 90% lake / city ponds with a Devils River trip a year thrown in. Not looking to invest 3k on a foot wide HD but I like the down imaging type views. Just wondering what you guys use and like. Thanks

If you're not into SI then the Lowrance elite 4 HDI or Chirp. If you want SI then Humminbird Helix 5 SI GPS combo.

I would go with the Helix 5, I only got the DI/GPS model, but I really like it so far. I would go with the DI/SI/GPS if I were you though. -Moondog

Would highly recommend the Lowrance 3x or Elite 4 Chirp, I have the elite 4 and I love it. Gives me everything I need out on the water but it doesn't get in the way- plus color and the chirp is wonderful.
Tight lines and good times.

Has anyone considered the Deeper, the little tennis ball-sized object that can be cast out or floated along side a kayak? One response to me from a different topic area here on TFF said that it was accurate regarding depth and water temp, showed the bottom contours okay, hard to distinguish between a ball of bait fish and a bass, grass shows up but not all branches. I think this is a pretty accurate accounting of what he said. He said the batteries last about 4 hours, that he had no trouble using Bluetooth for the display.
