Try the white, grey, silver grey all with a little black, purple, are blue mixed in. Anything that looks like a shad. They are back in the creeks but so far they have been small for me.

Was going to take some cinder blocks and get some piles going this weekend in my jonboat, plus take the saw and cut some that may impede my kayak outings. I may take a rod now, I am told first few cold fronts get them moving. We have had a couple of cool offs so far but nothing real big, will post up my results.

I don't keep count on them. And I don't keep them because they don't clean as easy as crappie
Now there's some truth. I have to re sharpen my fillet knife after every sandbass but can clean a ice chest full of crappie without having to sharpen. No red meat trim off either.
John 21:3 Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee.

You are going to get 10 different answers. For us it was best last year in the mid 60's. I wont really get after them until November when flounder limit goes down to 2. Last year was first time I really got some good ones, will take some detailed notes this year.

The big migration of Crappie to the creeks usually happen (depending on specific body of water) when the water temp goes below 55 degrees. Just my observation.

I'll mainly be fishing Lewisville so it sounds like I should just start checking when the water gets down around 65.

I was catching one on every cast near the mouth of East Fork Trinity, but every single one was 8-9". All caught on Thermocline soft plastic- can't remember the color- green something. Anyway- the crappie were in 6FOW and hitting it on the fall- so they are there. Tons of shad.
