What is the "slop" that is currently on the surface of just about every pond from 1/4 acre on up?
It forms along the shore and extends out anywhere from 4 to 10 ft on most but on some it covers almost the entire surface.
It's like a thick combination of grass, algae and moss and it does not come off your line easily.
I know it will be gone eventually but just seems to be everywhere this year.

It's called the fall turn over. Plant material from the bottom releases from the hot water and floats to the surface. All body's of waters experience this every year.

I am familiar with "turnover" and this is not what I associate with traditional "turnover".
