 2/0 through the eyes of a 6" perch

I caught a small perch with a bass bait. The 2/0 hook went through both the eyes and it was bloody. I've ready they rarely live when you hook them in places like the eyes. So, I cut his head off and threw him back. Is that bad? What's crazy is about 3 minutes later I saw a massive LMB swallow that carcass whole, so at least someone benefited from the kill.

Yup should have left the hook in him and tossed him back in.

Yep, should have taken the 2/0 hook out and replaced it w/a 5/0 hook...attached to your line! That "massive LMB that swallowed the carcass whole" would be your bass!
