Planning ahead since it's my first season with kayak fishing I am in the market for waders. Now I have seen some online with great reviews only to see them priced at $500 or even more than that. Now I will only be touching water when I load and unload or if I top over but I will be PFD ready. Want something that will work with my propel kayak and not make it an uncomfortable ride. Hopefully they are in the 80-150 range. As always anything helps you guys give great advice!

The Magellan Mag2 from Academy are very popular inexpensive waders. I'll be using my Caddies Waders for my 4th or 5th winter this year, and I have been very pleased with them. The only problem is they're not available locally and must be purchased online, but their measurements seemed true to size. My Bass Pro Redhead waders only lasted two seasons before they started to leak. Remington and Frog Togg also make inexpensive waders, but I have no first hand knowledge about them.

I use mine at the coast in the winter so I prefer the traditional chest-high waders, but you could also go with a waist-high wader if you want to too. I would also recommend going with a stocking foot waders than a boot foot waders, because you could wear a traditional wading boot for wade fishing or something smaller in profile, like a sandal, if you're going to pedal your kayak.

The Mag2 waders from Academy are the best bang for the buck in my opinion. Very comfortable and affordable. Im going on my 3rd year on the pair I have now with no issues. If money were no object though, I would have a pair of Simms with the relief zipper! Needed that on more then one occasion....

I have a pair of Hodgman waders and a pair of Hodgman wading pants. Good quality, comfortable, and not too pricey. Always check Cabela's Bargain Cave online, it often has breathable waders on sale.

I bought mine at Academy but these are just boots I guess to the top of the thigh. I use them often to launch my kayak, then wear them for awhile, pull them off and store them in the front hatch. They can get hot on warm days. Other than that, they are actually so comfy, I'd rather just leave them on.

I've been wading and kayaking in mine for a year. I purchased the cheap zip-up wading boots to go with the waders and they work great as well.

I use Hodgeman waist high waders. Got a pair for $40, already had the boots. I also have full size waders and boots so I'm good for whatever comes. Got those on sale at Academy for $70.

This is the key part of the post. I also have a Native Propel and have been contemplating the same thing. Waders that work in a paddle yak may not work well in a pedal yak.

I use Simms Freestone pant waders. They work great for me. I got them on eBay for $120.

Best handle name ever

I have a pair of Cabela's neoprene waders that I bought in 2007. Wore a hole in the heel I had to patch but otherwise still good. I do keep them out of the sun, hang them up when I get home and put them away in summer.
I also have a pair of White River breathables that I bought at Bass Pro several years ago and they are great when the weather is not so cold. They cost a little more than the neoprene but they are worth it when the temperature varies so widely. I had to get the breathable a little oversize as they don't stretch.

Two words: Breathable waders.

I use the cheapest pair of breathable waiders academy has. I think of waiders as a one season item. They get so nasty by the spring I wouldnt dare keep them. I tried rubber thinking durability a few years ago and paid a price. That was the coldest winter fishing for me. Save room to layer up underneath. Wear the belt. It keeps water out if you spill.
