Even more good points. Contingency is a big part also. I love the layout of both but the dry storage of Ranger is crazy awesome. I'm thinking about visiting their factories and then test driving each newest model from a dealership. Man, you guys are giving some terrific feedback and I thank you very much.

Tell Cliff to let you run a ranger, you already know how the Triton runs. About the same quality but look at the small things that will irk you later down the road and see the difference between the two. Ranger does hold value better.

I run basically the same set up and I agree!

I have a 1997 Triton that we bought new. Still remember driving off the lot with it. It's been an excellent boat and I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one. Never had a real issue with the boat itself. Had to replace the VRO pump on the motor once, but once in 18 years is nothing for a VRO pump. Really, really well built boat and we've caught a ton of fish in it and made some great memories.

I don't think there's a hill of beans difference between the two. But if you had to give either the very slight, marginal, subjective nod in a few categories, it would be:

Triton - speed, price
Ranger - ride

Both are well built, have good layouts, big decks, and have very good stability while fishing. If a smooth ride is the biggest concern, I'd get a Z521. I think it rides significantly better than the Z520 and just slightly better than a 21' Triton. But it is a wetter ride because it sits lower in the water. JMHO

Hey, what's up G? Long time no see. Yeah, I'm going to have to do that and compare the two. I haven't been in the newer models at all. You know my Triton is an 09. This will be my last purchase for a long time(10+yrs).

The Triton boat owners tournament will be at Lake Fork Marina this Saturday. Diamond Sports will be there Friday I believe. Give them a shout and go look at a Triton and Ranger.

rangers aren't made for speed as much as tritons i tournament fist a lot so speed does matter to me
not at all saying that tritons don't ride good they ride great but it is a litter boat and it depends on what type of fishing that you do the most i can get my triton in a lit of areas that you cant get a heavier boat

i would say that it really comes down to that

both are great boats and very well built

Guys, thank you all for your inputs. It has been very helpful in all aspects and very much appreciated. I will be test driving the 21TRX and the z520c. I will also visit the factory to further cement my decision. I will post pictures of what I decide here.

Exactly what I was going to suggest. Talk to Fred at Diamond Sports at Fork. They sell both brands side by side, and he'll point you the right direction. I opted to buy a '15 21trx Elite in July, and will never look back. Mine has the new G-2 on it and it flat runs. I came out of an '01 TR21, so I'm used to the way they drive. My '15 shocked me, honestly, in that it rides better than any boat I've been in when it comes to rougher water.

They're literally made in the same factory and built by the same people in Flippin, AR. Fit and finish and quality, in regards to workmanship, are the same.

Saying that, I absolutely love my Ranger.

I don't know about triton but I really really wish that ranger didn't use pop rivets on my lids. Do you hear that ranger!!!! Stop using rivets!!!!! Thank you.

They are both built there, but both companies have different standards of workmanship.

On the rivet aspect. Rivets handle vibration and remain stronger than screws which will strip. Ultimately bolts would be the best, but Ranger uses their fiberglass/ foam core you do not have that option. There is really no good solution without changing the lids.
