I used to keep our freezer full blues and porgies as a kid. I don't know how we ate them. but when you're poor and hungry, you're not so choosy.

I use to fish for porgies and enjoyed eating them. Bluefish are not the best tablefare.but the meat cut from the cheeks are really good eating.

porgies did taste better, but they were a pain to clean as a kid.
On a side note, there are few things more exciting than getting in the middle of a bluefish feeding frenzy. the schools are so big. it's not uncommon to see them up to 300 yards large. mullet and blues jumping into your boat. you wind up foul hooking half your fish just dragging a diamond jig through the water.
