At Arlington you cannot throw the net without getting 2 or 3 of these suckers. They then have to be plucked out and returned to the water.

I wonder if it's because they'd be hard to distinguish between small whites/hybrids when cut up.

Lol, that's very fast, do you have all your fingers intac? you really wasted a lot of meat...I clean em less than an hour...but I don't filet em... I use thin spoon to scale em, big knife to cut tail and head off, with the heel of knife press and pull off go the stomach, toss em all in big bucket of water stir drain... smaller knife make 3 cut to bone on each side... sprinkle some salt em. .. the best fish chip on the planet are ready for deep fry or pan fry, imho.

Ps, the crispy meat can be picked off the bone, bon appetite!

Why do I go fishing? To catch a box of fish and/or some quality time under the sun. Thank Heaven I never fail fishing in Texas, catching box fish or plenty of sunburn.

The ones we were keeping were 8 to 10" so they were easy enough to filet. Not a big piece of meat but sure fry fast :-)

I am impressed that you caught that many of the little bait thieves.

Up here they are experts at stealing bait without getting hooked. They make bluegills seem like amateurs.

30 a day limit up here. No size limit.

I only catch them on lures. They'll hit a small silver Blue Fox all day. I don't fish for them on purpose though. They don't get off a treble hook.
