I mostly hang on the hunting site so y'all don't tell on me. I'm looking for the most realistic yellow grasshopper fly I can find. I suck at fly fishing but catch a ton of fish on a fly rod using big yellow grasshoppers. I would like a yellow grasshopper fly so I don't have to go stomp around in the poison ivy catching them. Any leads?

I always liked Dave's Hopper.

I like a Dave's Hopper as well. Always had more luck warmwater fishing with that than the foam hoppers, but that might just be me.

Actually I picked up a dave's hopper at the Beavers Bend fly shop that has extra long legs and a big fat head- I strip it in like frog pattern and catch LM on it pretty often. Hey, whatever works...

These are the hoppers I use and this fly would be perfect if it sank and the guy would sell them.

It is but when I ask to buy some he said they weren't for sale.

I dunno. Maybe it was a prototype. Their western hopper looks similar.
