 Lake Calaveras Crappie

The wife and I have fished at Calaveras several times in the last year and would like to know if anyone has caught crappie in this lake. The lady that runs the bait shop there told us that the lake had crappie in it but anglers in boats on the lake tell us the lake has no crappie. We started going to McQueeny in September and have caught a lot of crappie but do not like the ski boats and jet skis. We are thinking of going back to Calaveras to catch Talapia on rod and reel if we can learn the art of it. However, we would really like to fish for crappie if they are in the lake. Anyone have any experience with crappie in this lake?
