Just curious to see what everyone's responses are and which works best for you as far as keeping the minner alive and which seems to work best. I've always hooked mine under the dorsal fin of the minnow.

I may not always use a minnow, but when I do, I hook them through the back, below the dorsal fin.

Ha, this is funny

I don't use a lot of minnows, but when the jigs are not working I do. The way I like best is get some bigger ones, cut their heads off and use on a fish head type jig hook. Put them on like a plastic jig and fish them like a jig. They will catch fish some time went the jigs don't.

Through the lips always. I have unfortunately had minnows stay alive this way for a couple hours on a crappie rig. If there is any type of current they will be able to streamline in to it or if you want to move your pole left or right or reel it in it keeps them straight. If you hook it through the back they twist, twirl, and get dragged around and it beats them up and they die faster.

Thru the back when fishing lakes and thru the lips when fishing creeks with current. I use a crappie hook when fishing them thru the back and a small size number 6 hook when fishing them thru the lips.

Depends on the bite...........sometimes thru the lips, for aggressive bites the back right behind the dorsal fin works. oh and on pizza
