I have fished that lake numerous times and have never had any issues with theft or vandalism. I know it gets a bad rap but personally, I have never had an issue with it. My dad has been fishing the lake since the early 90's and he's never had an issue either. Guess we have just gotten lucky haha but like already stated, both sides of the gates along the dam hold fish as well as the area by the runway. And also might go check the creeks out on the other side of the bridge. Haven't fished it since February but caught some decent fish when we went.

Aside from the warnings, it is a good lake that isn't often crowded with many bass boats. Shallow lake as well. Fish points, rocks, and flip any over hanging brush. I caught those 2 ^^ flipping. Good luck. ALSO! Bring a partner to launch you or get wet. But there are plenty of folks bank fishing or sitting in their cars that would be more than glad to help launch you!! All jokes aside, I have met some real nice people out their. It's not too bad during the day time but I would NOT leave my truck their at night.

This was during the spawn, in the canal. Caught on large paca craw pegged t-rig. I garuntee during the fall the canal will be the money spot. Normally I wouldn't be saying this but I'm moving to Galveston so have at it! Good luck

Are you talking about the canal right there by the boat ramp?

I don't like the fact that you have to get wet to load/unload. The water is super shallow. I have only went once and for a few hours, I saw a guy drive over near the boat ramp, throw something in the water, and then drive off. Shady people where at the park, but it was a few weeks ago and it is summer time. When Bill does his shows out there, it is in the dead of winter and few people are going to be hanging out around there in the winter is my guess.
I will say this the creeks in the back do look awesome, but you are far away from your vehicle, so even though people say nothing ever happens, just knowing where you are parked and that you are so far from there, that it is in the back of your mind the whole time you are fishing, or at least it was for me.
Also, the current in the creeks when I was out there a few weeks ago, was so strong it was nearly impossible to hold your boat in position and fish.

Heck, vehicles were getting broke in to or stolen back in 1992 when I fished it. There are a lot of "salvage" auto part places in the area..they don't have far to take your vehicle. Yes, I have fished there and made it out with no problems but the 2 times they got me wasn't worth it. Lo be unto you if they are needing an expensive part your vehicle can deliver
The TFF never disappoints, always entertaining.
