Hey guys I just got a Ascend FS12T for my 50 birthday , whole family got togeather to get it for me , the first thing I want to add is a fish finder and I was hoping to get some advice on what type to get an how to mount it . I am hoping for the least destructive way to mount it possible . I have heard they have some new magnetic mounts does anyone have any experience with them ?

I haven't used the magnetic mounts but it looks like a cool concept. There are lots of options. I would figure out what you want in a fish finder and go from there.

Check out mad frog gear. They have options that allow you to mount a fish finder and transducer to your yak without drilling holes in your yak. Their Liberator can be attached to your track system.

Aquiles here is my review video of my FS12T. It breifly shows how I mounted my FF. I has worked out well for me on the water. I will answer any questions you have about my mounting method though if you need me to. It was simple and minimally "destructive."

Couple of questions. 1. What are you mounting it on? Slide track, Ram ball mounted straight to the kayak? My suggestion would be a 4" gear track from Yak attack. If you don't like it where you put it, at least you can move it and put something else on the gear track. 2. Do you want the cords and battery on the inside or outside of the hull. 3. If inside, are you comfortable drilling it provided you had good directions and items needed to make it water tight. 4. How would you prefer to mount the transducer. My suggestion, would be to use the mad frog liberator arm on a 4 inch gear track. Here are two of my videos on how I did it. 1. - My very first video - Its rough...so sorry about that. But if you'll skip ahead to 1:49 you can see how I did it. Directly applies to how you could mount yours. https://youtu.be/7LgmAMMVyYg2. Most recent video - You'll see a big difference...lol. This shows how to use the Hobie thru hull mounting kit, which is what you'll need if you decide to drill it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZwKHL4sNX4

I have a FS12T as well. I like the Hobie through bolts. They look handy. What fish finder are you looking at getting? I have been looking at the hummingbird 194c di less than $150. I want to mount it in the hull but I also want water temp. I thought about the arm thing but I haul mine on top of my SUV so I wouldn't want to damage it turning the kayak over and lifting it up and down. So don't forget to consider that.

The YakAttack cellblock that RobMoe pointed out looks good but I wonder if that would get in the way of my paddling.

Hey Kayak_and_Crossbones I was looking at your video and was wondering , do you think the dogbone you have holding your camera would be able to hold the weight of a Lowrance Fishfinder ? Also I see you have one what model is it ? I just got the Elite 4 chirp but have yet to mount it.
