I am looking at buying a Sonar/GPS combo and was wondering what you guys run. I am not deadset on color. Just looking for a really good combo at a reasonable price.

Love God. Love People.

I am running a Lowrance 332C and I love it. I just switched over to color a few months ago and I won't be going back. The 332C doesn't have all of the capabilities of its big brothers, but it definitely has enough for me. I'm sure the same unit in grayscale would also be nice.

Can't hardly beat the Lowrance 332C, IMHO. The Eagle 480 combo will give you the same performance minus the color. But once you've had color, it'd be hard to go back.

i run the LMS 480. not color but the sonar is more powerful than the color unit and ~$100 cheaper. have never used color, but i'm sure it's nice.

Run the 332C as well. Color adds so much to the detail. Still have a grey scale unit on the bow, but don't like it nearly as well.

I have heard that the GPS/Sonars with the internal antenna will occasionally lose contact with the satellites, while the units with the external antenna do not lose the signal. Has this been anyones experience, or is it purely propaganda? who_knows

ole, an external antenna will certainly LOCK ON better, but really I rarely loose the signal on my handheld unit that is mounted on the center console.... and then only for a few seconds. No problem, and remember since 2000 the error signal on the satellite has been turned OFF.......so every GPS now reads very accurately with about 10ft.

A bad day fishin' is still better than work!
That's BOATMAN1 with the blue hat on! BUT the BOAT is fake!

I recently upgraded from my Lowrance IFINDER Pro to an Eagle Intellimap 500C. It is a color unit with external antenna. I can take or leave the color feature but I like the 500C much better because it is a lot faster than the IFINDER to Zoom In/Out. I frequently use this feature so I like the additinal speed. I have matched it with a Fishmark 480. I like having seperate uits. 2 units take up more console space but I've got plenty on my Fishmaster CC.

Lowrance LMS330C is great and the 332C is even better. I have a 330c and my friend has a 332C and they are both great. Think about how long they will last and get the color one. YOU WONT BE DISAPPOINTED. For a few $$$ extra you will get much better resolution and will be able to tell the difference between the bottom and fish near the bottom. Structure and fish near the structure. I won't go back to greyscale, it's not worth it. I only have so much time to fish and every little advantage helps!

I feel more like I do now than I did when I first got here!
