DOes anybody have any idea what it would take to get the City of Dallas to maybe put a couple of docks in next to any of the public boat ramps? I have the Hambys, but I get tired of trying to park my boat safely on the rocks/ramp. I have talked to other that said they would chip in money to pay for one to be built.

Steve I am not sure where you're putting in but they have opened a new ramp at the end of 66 bridge going into Rock Wall. and it has a boat dock in my opinion it is the nicest rap on the lake that is free to launch. the parking lot is not very large and you would have a long run back to the main lake. for those that read this might want to give if a try. I also am very tired of getting on the rocks . Rock Wall and TPW went together and funded the new ramp. if they can do this so can Dallas it seems like it's not a priority for them. the cost would not be that expensive just to put in a dock for all boaters to tie up. Good fishing to all and be safe.

Or you could put in at Chandlers. They have the best dock. The one at 66 is worthless...too shallow. Might have come up a bit, but there are rocks all on the bottom so if it is too low, you may regret trying to use it. I still use the mud bank to the left of the ramp.
Glad to have taken..."the trash in the back!"

Steve,
The only way I know of to get the ball rolling is by e-mailing the City of Dallas Parks and Recreation. It's all going to come down to "Who's going to pay for it?"
I'm all for improvements to the existing public facilities.
Someone has to be willing to stand up and try to get the City of Dallas or surrounding communities to give out public funds (your and my tax dollars) to do the improvements.
I'm not sure how many other inter-city lakes are owned by the City of Dallas and how they are equipted for public access to the water via a boat ramp with a courtesy dock. How well are they maintained? I think most inter-city lakes are Corps ran.
This is sort of a touchy subject for me.I have fished the lake for many years and have not seen hardly any improvements or maintaince to the public facilities at the lake.
Hey at least they have a port-a-potty at the Dalrock ramp. That's if you don't get your trailer stuck in a hole off the end of the ramp when the water is low.
Ok I'll shut up now.

You would think that you could get Bass pro shops behind this to help push the issue with the cities that surround the lake, all they would have to do and tell them they want it improved to bring in a few of the big tourney's that they sponsor and i think if any one had any clout it would be them.I was hoping that they would put in another public ramp next to them eventually are even there own that they charged would be fine with me.

My understanding is that lake Point Marina is moving. Over there on the North side of 30 Building their new marina it's to be completed in 2008. they also will have a boat ramp when it's completed I will use that one. I will purchase The yearly pass and be done with all the others.

I usually launch in Robertson Park by the Texas Queen. Chandlers has a nice ramp, I just don't want to have t pay $7 to just get on the lake for a couple of hours. I have not been to the one on 66 yet, I may have to check it out when I can come out of hibernation. AS many boats as I have seen launching there on a regular basis, if they put an honor box up and charged $1 or $2 per launch, they woud make more than enough money to cover its cost and maintenance.

I was out at the new 66 ramp a few weeks ago, at that time the water was still very low and very tough to put in at. I don't recall seeing a dock or anything there at that time, might be one now. All and all it will be nice when the water comes back up. Bad part is that it is a long way from the main lake. Still I agree we need more docks and less rocks at the ramps. BPS sounds like a great start along with the city and TPW.
