Losing a big fish is the worst feeling! All you can do is get your bait back out there. A few years back in spring while bank fishing a shallow point, I had a fish start peeling drag, then came off. I cut the same piece of bait, casted to the same spot, and what do you know... the fish hit it the same exact way about 5 minutes later and I got it landed that time. Im guessing he was cruising back and forth over that point searching and I got lucky enough for another chance to catch him.
But most of the time that happens to me, they don't come back lol

Like previously said, it happens to everyone. There are different levels on this. Below is a chart. It's not exact but you'll get the drift. I had a #2 and a #4 happen to me this weekend. Oh well, that's bankfishing:

Usually I get real mad and curse God Jesus and everyone else under the sun for a minute or two and then get to feeling bad about it and just thank the lord I had a chance and get back after it. Ive gotten a lot better about it than I was in my youth. Now I take it pretty well, but nobody likes to loose a bigun!

I dont care because it was going back anyhow if the wife or mother-in-law isn't with me they dont let me through anything back that is legal

Go on Steve douglas facebook page and check out the video he just posted he lost a rod bender for sure ! Its a sickening feeling and multiply it by 100 if in a tournament but anyone fishing long enough will have it happen and honestly that's what its all about for me, if we land them all easily we would all lose intrest.

Just wait till you pull one in with 3 hooks in it's mouth freaking chop that guy up and cook him nuisance fish!
