Hey guys, many of ya'll may have seen RedTop Lady's post about needing to pull out...well I have agreed to buy her two spots for my brother-in-law and I. However, now my mind is racing with questions. First of all, is there a thread discussing all the things we need to bring etc...? That might save all of us some time if I can read through that. I have lots of questions about what to buy for fishing? What to bring for on the boat? What food to bring? What/how many coolers to bring? And many more. Maybe this will get ya'll talking again since the discussions have seemed to fein a bit due to the reschedule.
As you can probably tell, I'm very excited! Thanks in advance for all the replies!

I bumped up a bunch of Cinco Trip topics that will help you get ready. The boat supplies Chunking 3/0 Penn or Newell and Bottom 6/0 Penn or Newell fishing equipment but it may not be in the best shape. Most of our guys bring their own equip. You will have to provide your own Topwater Rig and Lures.. also you can jig for Black Fin Tuna with the boat rods if you bring some 6-8oz Diamond jigs of your own. Bazz

Hey Cameron, saw your stuff over on 2cool. cant wait to meet & fish w/ you. if you look around this forum for anything w/ Cinco in the title you'll be alright, & if not, myself & a lot of other "tackle ho's" will have enough for ya. SkR will be the cooky, so bring something for the grille. lots( like 20) of 8oz Diamond jigs & 5,6,7/0 baithooks, a 30# rig, & a 50# rig, & a belt and/or plate, & rainwear/boots. If yer pukey, get the dramamine patch but no more than that. a good knife & an icechest & you're good to go! see you in May -Brian

CG, As you can read from Lite-liner's post he likes to travel light, he's only bringing 250lbs of gear or so while some of us are not happy till we reach a more respectable 4 digit number ^_^. Just remember that once you are on the boat you can not run to the store to get something. with that being said, read thru the earlier posts and if you are still wondering about something someone on here will make sure you are set up to have a good time. And if you do happen to miss something last minute someone on the boat will probably have an extra...welcome aboard

I always have plenty. I charge 5% above retail for every mile offshore. So if were are 135 miles offshore, expect to pay me 675 percent. A 10 dollar jig will only be 675.00. Cash only once in Federal waters. LOL

I understand. I'm not a total noob just haven't done a 52hr trip before. I'm thinking about just showing up and borrowing all the gear that's just laying around Just kidding...it'll be a fun trip no matter what. Thanks guys for the replies, if there's something big that concerns me I'll post up and get opinions. Cameron

Cameron,
Buy a 8-10 of the Ballistic Frenzy Fliers and I will post later how to custom rig them. Don't buy them pre-rigged. Buy 3-4 Tuna Hunters. The other tackle you need isn't going to be all that much. Get about ten, 8-12 ounce Diamond jigs.
You can get into it fairly cheap at first to see if this is for you. However, once you get the Tuna fever, watch out!

Mike, you are going to have to show me how to rig one of those flying fish. i tried a couple times and just wasnt impressed with the way they fished. then again it might just have been that everyone was catching the Tuna's on chunk bait and didnt spend enough time fishing them.

They can be the absolute bomb if they are rigged right!

Not very impressed with my flier rigging either, put a stinger hook on mine - thought it looked kind of shabby. Interested in the rigging technique.

JMO, but I think if you could find a STRONG 10-12/o Double hook, it would result in better hookups. last year I got hit 4 times on 1 and no joy each time. got to looking @ the thing. the hook is right, but any pulling pressure at all forces the hook to lay over, nearly blocking the hook point under the wing I've talked to Capt. Seaner about this,(Double hook) & he insists it's not necessary. Hey it's his bait & I beleive him, but my thought was a Big, Forged double hook. this would keep hook points perpendicular to the bait, resulting in more hookups & eliminating the need for a trailer hook entirely. w/ the new baits, there is a "pocket" in the rear of the bait for the trailer, but so far my attempts at rigging this effectively have not gone well. I haven't found a double hook at any of the manufacturer websites that I can think of. any one got an idea or 2 would be great. -B

One of the Flier Websites suggests using a 5X Treble as the Stinger Hook instead of a Circle or J Hook.
