OP BADLANDER Angler B Joined: Aug 2013 Posts: 463 DENTON TX	Had a HOGG on last night about 11;30. Before I could get to the rod it had my rod tip touching the water and stripping line my drags are set to not pull my beereadys down, but they are not set light either. I was by myself and he had a big #8 circle hook in him ,so i took my time while fighting him as he steadly took drag and adjusting it twice. I moved a couple rods around then fought some more then got my net right where I could just reach down and scoop him up. and BOOOM line went Limp. OMG I told my self it was a 5' GAR...... but even this morning im telling myself why didnt you get him out of the water.. as my dad would say the longer hes in the water the easier it is for something to go wrong..

Had a 6" live carp on since we had already caught 3 flats on cut shad figured I'd try for a nice one. Striped drag with drag locked down tight as it will go on a 65 and never turned him, couple head shakes and gone. I say gar every time just so I can sleep at night.
