I'm looking at a 2010 boat that hasn't been well taken care of and has some heavy oxidation past what a little wet sanding/buffing can take out.. So have any of yall taken your boat to a fiberglass shop and had them sand it down and re-clear it? And any fiberglass shop recommendations around for Fort Worth area to do this?

You may find it is not as bad as it looks. That said Classic Fiberglass in Denton will make it look new if that is your choice. There are several shops that do good work within 2 hrs of DFW.

It's a shame , that people buy brand new boats, use it a few times then just let it sit outside in the sun and elements with no cover.

The sun is rough on them mine chalked and seats disintegrated just from hrs on the water in the sun. Now I am a big fan of white gel as it reflects damaging sunlight.

Clear Coat is expensive. I have been able to bring back some pretty abused fiberglass with lots of work. Sand, buff, Polish, then seal. Please let me know if I can help.

If it has flake in it before you do anything run your hand down it. If it feels stickery then its to late. If you start sanding or buffing on it the flake will turn silver. If there is plenty of gel coat left on the boat then it can be sanded and buffed.
