I've heard of this. I read an article in bassmaster in the 90s (back when I used to bass fish); a guy caught a LMB on a spinnerbait, lipped the bass, reach in to take the hook out and BAM!!! Cotton mouth bite right on the knuckle. Guy had to get helicoptered to the hospital but survived.
Crazy stuff.

I wonder if anyone has ever been bite by a snake that had been eaten right before it was caught, but while cleaning the fish???
I don't know about yall but I like to cut open the stomach to nice sized cats to see what they've been eating. Found about a pound of little mussels in a 5 lbs blue cat one time. They eat all kinds of stuff
