I spent the last month backpacking and fishing in the Wind River Range in Wyoming. The scenery was spectacular and the brook trout and golden trout fishing was spectacular. However, the weather was the worst that I've ever seen it in the mountains in the summer. Usually, it just storms consistently in the afternoon. However, on two hikes I had 3-4 days of consistent rain and I even took around 4 inches of snow one day and it dropped down to the upper 20's at around 11 AM 3 weeks ago and I was hailed on around half a dozen times (hale is common in the Wind Rivers). I caught the fish on spinning gear mainly on panther martins and some on "paper clip" spoons. Fly fishing.....the best flies were some variation of a copper John.....especially green. No, I was not in Dubois (the East side of the range). This year, I started all of my hikes from the west side of the range from around Pinedale at the Elkhart Park trailhead or the Big Sandy trailhead. Last year, I did some hikes from the east side around Dubois. I really enjoyed this area around Ross Lake. The area is so large, with so many possibilities, and almost limitless once you become comfortable with doing the off-trail or unmaintained trail stuff

See any bear during your outing?

I did not see any bear on this trip.....but I saw signs of them several times including what I think was probably evidence of a bear messing with my Ursack (armored food bag) and walking right outside my tent in Desolation Valley.
