On my last fishing trip with my Dad he accidently dropped two AAA batteries down the deforst vent on the passenger side of my truck. Does anyone know a way to get them out short of taking it to the dealer? The rattling is about to drive me crazy! It is a 2004 F150.

More than likely, they have made there way into the housing which means the dash has to come out. Sorry but it sounds like a trip to the dealer or a good local shop you can try a magnet but the chances of hitting them is slim
The worst times fishing are still better than the best time thinking about it.

Oh geez... this is funny, but I feel for you. On my old truck, my kids dropped more stuff down those vents that I could care to count. It rattled like a crankbait, when you got to going pretty good. I finally traded the truck off, but boy I was ready to get listening to that rattling.

Maybe when I come back from fishing Amistad next time I will act suspicious at the check point and let the border patrol take care of if for me. Thanks for the ideas. I think I will face the music and take it to the shop.

That magnet on a string idea is a good one.. assuming batterise are magnetic.... you could make the string exceptionally long and tie it off. Then drive around for a few days...I think if the magnet picks them up.. they will stop rattling near as much, if not completly.. then you would just have to carefully pull the magnet out.

I some cases you might be able to excess some of the air duct area by removing the Blower motor. Removal of the Blower isn't all that hard. You might be able to see in there with a small mirror that extends out and find what you are looking for.. Batteries might still be good.. Good luck..

In my old Nissan truck we lost a set of rattlesnake rattles down the defroster vent. 11 rattles and a button, every time you turned on the defroster it sounded as if you had a rattlesnake in the truck with you. I scared the sh!t out of lots of people before I pulled the motor and got them out. Johnny

hahhhahahahahahaha this is some funny ****. It's real hard to annoy this guy, so you know it's GOT to be bad.
Stick with the Border Patrol idea. I've seen them work. Quality.....through and through.
They'll have that Ford apart in no time flat.
