Wanting something that is good quality and maybe 3/4 oz or 1 oz. wanting to count down to 18 feet or so and have a slow steady, sometimes erratic retrieve. What would be best? Taking my Dad Hybrid fishing, but will obviously use them for bass too!

Squadron heads Try these. Plus, they have Trokar hooks.

I make custom swimjigs with a non chip powder coating that dents with the lead instead of chipping. super high gloss finish. 3d eyes. the head may pair up very nicely with a hollow body. here is a picture for reference:

Those don't come in 3/4 and 1 oz. I do like the fact they have Trokar hooks and I like the head design.

I don't want a weed guard. Those look good though.

Try calling Bayou Baits at Lake Fork. I know he makes all kinds up to an ounce with 60 and 90 degree hooks. He's slow but is the only one around that makes them that heavy that I know of.

I like the VMC Ike approved swimbait heads. They are copies of the revenge "hedz" that have very detailed paint jobs and the 3/4 has a 6/0 hook which is great for that size basstrix. The don't make a one ounce though. Also, strike king has squadron heads in 3/4 and 1 oz, they just don't have the trokar hook. I believe they use the same gamakatsu siwash heavy guage hook that they use in the hackney jigs and heavy cover stuff. They are a pretty stout hook and pretty cheap at $3.19 a 3 pack. I have never used the santone's or bayou baits head that were recommended, but I am sure you won't go wrong with either of those as well. Have fun.

The above I have in sizes 5/8, 3/4 and 1 oz. Have them with either a 6/0 or 8/0 hook.
I have these up to 1/2 oz in either a 6/0 or 8/0 hook.

Derrick, I'm a big fan of the Basstrix. No need to get fancy with jig heads. The fish can't tell a fancy, like-like painted one from a plain lead head. They're keying on your bait and its action, not the jighead. Save your money and buy Owner Bullets. Perhaps a little super glue. They're all you need. Like these... http://www.fishermanswarehouse.com/shop/owner-saltwater-bullet-ultra-head/ I have several $$$ worth of swimbait heads. Pretty ones with all kinds of bait keepers, eyes, lifelike features, etc. They're a waste of money, imo. p.s.-you need to try the 7" for bass on Fork
