Just did mine online. Got sticker in two days. This is the simplest it's ever been. He will have to have it inspected again. Dealer is correct. How could you not have known about the change is beyond me. Oh and why anyone takes time to go to a tax office is beyond me. Took me all of five minutes online. With the new laws you have to if your registration is even 1 day past due. I found out the hard way last year when I mailed my utility trailer, RV, and truck in April. They sent all back because the utility was due in March. I had been doing it this way for years. When I went to the office I had to sign a form stating that I had not received a citation. They bumped the utility to April.

I am a State Inspector...it was very confusing at first for everyone. The reason for it all is the "one sticker" process (and illegal inspections, stolen trailers). There is no exact process to get it all done, the main goal is inspection must be done to renew registration, once that is done, inspection/registration will be renewed and paid at the same time every year. Please Note: your only proof of inspection is the VIR the station gives you.
