 What is your go to technique this time of year?

It's hot and the fishing has slowed for most. What are you reaching for to get bit? The few fish I've caught have come off a senko around shallow grass.

early morning chase/reaction baits... buzz, crank, chatter, depending on where on the water you are... after the first hour or so of fishing try to find where they are holding and just tease them out 1 by 1 with your favorite plastics mostly... and hope for some cloud cover and a breeze so your skin doesn't ignite  It's a good time of year to be strong at fishing midrange (8-15FOW or so) usually for me, but all in all I'm not getting out nearly enough right now, and I'm not too terribly torn up about it given 105*+ temps and blazing sun lol

The only way I'll fish right now is if I'm on the water by 6am and I'm peeling out by 9:30

Agree, so far this summer, it's been midrange on the lakes I've been on. They aren't relating to deep cover yet where I've been going--sort of suspending 8-15ft in 20-25feet of water. Most summers, I like fishing on the bottom type techniques (crig/jig/drop shot/spoon)
This summer-- lightly weighted swimbaits/soft jerkbaits and worms counting them down to 15ft and also been using mid depth crankbaits, heavier vibrating jigs and spinnerbaits to catch the suspended bass. Might try some scrounger and darter heads also.

However you can find em shallow at the crack of dawn with top water baits. Have also seen some good sized fish schooling chasing shad at the top and have gotten many with top water off shore. Had about 18lbs in 30 minutes the other day out in 30ft of water throwing a popper.

Not enough fish in the lake to lure me out in the middle of the day. I'll wait till the sun goes down and the idiots making the big waves go home then I have the entire lake to myself all night. I'm kind of suprised that more people don't fish at night on the lakes that I am on.

Man, I love night fishing in summer in Texas but I don't like doing it on big lakes with the big boat near as much (no GPS)... I really miss my pond boat this time of year... there are some killer small lakes to go paddle and troll around and some seriously good night fishing!

6am--9:30am
4-6 inch worm near weed beds
Saturday: caught 25 with 2 sixes and a 7.5
Sunday: caught 10 with a couple of 4 pounders
Go smaller and slower
