I fish with a group that fish out of their own boats. I have a Xpress H17PFC with a 90, 70# 24V minn kota. It is a great crappie boat for East TX and SW Arkansas lakes with lots of stumps and standing timber, very nimble and takes rough water very well. but the older I get (76), the more the stick steer boat is looking better.
"One-3Lb-er" PB= 3Lb 4 OZ Texarkana, TX Fish in Texas=Wright Patman, Lake of Pines, Caddo: Arkansas=Millwood, Greeson, Dierks, White Oak: Oklahoma=Pine Creek, Hugo.

SStohner, As you will see and hear, Lund owners are proud of their boats. And they should be. Best Crappie boats ever produced. Some great stix own them and promoted them.
Jerry Handcock and Paul O'Bier Lund 2025 Pro V LE Merc 250 OPTI. Currently Jaydon Reeves Boat
Guide Chuck Rollins started with a 1800 Explorer 115 Merc
Guy skinner 1825 Explorer Merc 150 Verado Power Steering
Jeff Schiller Lund 1900 Pro V Merc 225 OPTI
Sheldon Shepard Lund 18 Mr Pike 150 Honda (navigated crazy waters in the boat)
Ernest Patty Lund 1725 Explorer Merc 115 (just sold to a new happy owner I am sure)
The list goes on. If these boats were listed for sale, Jeff Schillers 1900 Pro V would be my choice. Second would be Guy Skinners 1825 Explorer. These are great fishing platforms for Crappie fishing. You might take a look at the following.
Lunds 1850 Impact (rivited)
Alumacraft 185 Sport (riveted)
Lowe FS 1810 (welded)
Crestliner 1850 SuperHawk (welded)
These will be considered Fish/Ski. Although these brands offer more fish than ski. In used market names may vary Good Luck.

thanks for all the advice. When I asked my wife today how many people she would want to fit in a boat that we get her response 8.... told her I was looking at like 5 max, not many 8 person fishing boats that are usable... This search will continue, as far as price range depends on the boat. If its new and i get a loan I could look up to 30k, but out of pocket used woult be about 15.

No such thing as the best crappie boat. Its crappie boats its my opinion you need three a float tube, small Jon boat, and a big boat. Plus a 4 wheel drive pickup to get u to the really good spots that don't have ramps.

Wew! We just moved to the Tyler area from Iowa and I was worried about my "yankee" Lund 1660 ProV...seems Lunds are the shiz. It worked great on the Upper Mississippi and keeps my rugrats contained, can't wait to try it out in TX.

My wife is from the clear lake area and it seems everybody has a Lund or a crest liner up there, great boats but a lot of tiller steer up there, after trolling for northern and walleye I can see why,but it fishes a lot different down here,we spend a lot more time on the T/M then we do trolling on the big motor or the pony motor they all seem to have up there, hope you get it figured out and welcome to the forum.

No offense to Pontoon owners, but I will not own one of those... Grew up Duck hunting on Lake Tawokoni. Could not see myself navigating stumps or a low level lake in one. My Wife will concede on the amount of people... Just saying that so everyone can see how fun this decision will be to make! I'm sure i am the first one on these forums to deal with that issues
