My daughter asked me to take her fishing for her birthday tomorrow and I was was planning to go to Crockett cause it's relatively close to home and we have to be back early for the rest of the family functions. The forest service site says road 923 and 923a is closed, but doesn't look like it's been updated in a while. Anyone know if you can get on the lake?

There are road closed signs at each end of 409. They are repaving, taking their time I might add. You can use the road to access coffee mill and Crockett. Very dusty ride. As of last week no asphalt. Come in from the east side of 409 to get to Crockett. Should be fine.

That lake kicked my butt bad a month ago!

Camped out and 4 of us fished 2 days and had 1 bass to show for it!!

Two weeks ago...fishing the lake and noticed lots of nasty bottom of the lake looking stuff floating on the surface of the water. Not sure but it might be turning over

Had to break out the spinning gear and a wacky senko to get bit. Caught a couple. Didn't fish real hard. More of a when your 11 year old daughter says daddy will you take me fishing, you do what ever she wants to make sure she asks again.

Try flipping a black/blue beaver type bait to deeper grass around the pads. About 7-10 foot of water. Fish the grass you can barely see, tops just below the surface. Had to be near pads.
Fished there a week ago on the way home from coffee mill for an hour. Caught 7 and left as it was hot!!!

Congrats to your daughter. Great times bringing the little ones fishing. I miss those days, but I got a 3 year old
grandson who is going to be my fishing buddy when he gets a little older.
