Can you use a transom transducer on the trolling motor if you can find a way to mount it?
Just trying to make it work on my dads boat for a while until I buy another boat...

You can, but should not if you have a variable speed trolling motor.
The proper one is the XTM 9 SI 180 T. It is a PUCK and comes with the stainless steel hose clamps. It has extra internal shielding to help with possible RFI from the trolling motor.
A better choice is the XTM 9 HDSI 180 T which is longer and produces a thinner SI pulse and sharper images. It comes with the hose clamps too.

Thanks for the response...I am on a budget, so I may just try to get by with the transom mount if I can make it work, unless you or anyone knows where I could by a used XTM 9 HDSI 180 T ?
Thanks again for the help...

The trolling motor adapter for the transom transducer is
AD XTM 9 $25 MSRP
Transducer Shield and Saver has a very good mount for it, but expensive.

The Compact SI transducer that is standard with that model and all the smaller screen SI units does not have the extra internal shielding that the PUCK and HDSI have. The electronic speed control of variable speed motors is a major source of RFI.

I have the 897c/xhs9hdsi18pt on a transom mount and the 898/xhm9si180t on the maxxum variable speed trolling motor. Humminbird and Minn Kota are the same company and have been a big help. I had to ground batteries, properly fold then coil the excess wire, and add add a choke to the tm power cable. My understanding all the new SI transducers and trolling motors have shilded cables. I get minimum noise with finders set to default and can eliminate it by adjusting the power and noise filter. It also helps turn off the one not being used. So far so good.
