The bigger fish have been coming from isolated patches of hydrilla on points.

If it is your first time up the river, follow another boat. There are two seriour stumps as you turn toward the high power lines, a few right after the power lines, and one if you miss the inlet. Google earth has a boat prop track that shows the best path. There is also a sunken safe off Dalrock about halfway from the trees and the high water line.

Don't follow some on if you dont know them this can be bad advice , and based on luck that they know what they are doing. Just because I miss a stump by a foot doesn't mean you will. Idle from 50 yards south of the power lines favor the trees left of the power line and take a line along them about 25 yards off the trees get out in the open and look for the big stump out side the river it's marked. Pass that stump 10 feet to it's right go straight then point the boat towards the mouth of the river.

Correction, after our latest drought, there are about 7 serious stumps on the way up to the river. I don't go up there when the lake is dwn more than 2.5 feet and if I do I take my time when within 100 feet of any of these stums. My GPS is accurate within 8 feet and this gives me a safty factor that I am comfortable with now.

Pass that stump 10 feet to it's right go straight then point the boat towards the mouth of the river. The widow maker is no longer marked and the grass is matted up half way to the power lines. The thinnest grass is towards the west side of the flat and naturally people are going to follow that if they don't know the way. The problem is that puts the widow maker right in your path. I idled my old trail and it's still good with the exception of the golf course point, you have to dodge a half dozen willow bushes or so now...

For now the water is moving 10 mph in the river and is everywhere. I will not waste the gas until Lavon slows its release and the water is back in the banks. Might be fun where some of the cuts are coming out to the west.

I expect they'll slow it this week. Lavon is down to normal pool.
It happened while I was typing!

No decent fish were caught last week up there. There was a million 2"-4" bass everywhere and they enjoyed a top water. Biggest fish out of the river was 8"-10". I would wait.
