Nice catch! Creek fishing is definitely hot right now! In a local creek today I fished from 10-11:30a and 6-8pm, and probably caught 200 fish. Too bad 90% of them were 9 1/2 inches.

Why are Crappie in the creeks in the dead of Winter? Why are they not holding in their deep water Winter holes?

How deep were you fishin. Have caught em as shallow as 1' under bobber. Plan on trying it this coming weekend during the cold spell.

C3, I know alot of the shad move up creeks in the winter, I figure that's a starting point.... They seem to be up the creeks, in marinas, and really deep, not much anywhere else in the winter. Just my 2 cents....

I had my bobber as deep as 6 foot. Not that easy to throw, but that's where the fish were. I don't usually use a slip cork. I use a weighted cork, a six ft rod and sling the heck out of it. They would hit green for a while and stop..white, then pink, and back around to green. Mostly curly tail grubs.. I lost a BUNCH of corks...

Tony... I love this time of year most of all. The freezer does really well between now and late february. That long walk is starting to take it's toll on me though.. I have a buddy with one of those Rhino's.. Talk about a good friend!! flehan

Spoken like a "TRUE CRAPPIEMAN", Mike! This is truly the PRIMO time of the yr to catch crappie in the creeks! Beats the heck out of the spring spawn when they scatter to the 4 winds!! Too hard to look for em!!!

This time of yr, find ya a good creek w/cover, structure, debris, deep and shallow water, and you got yourself a freezer that stays full all winter!!!!!!!

That jig and bobber deal is the bomb!!!!!!!

Until me and a couple other guys started giving it its just due on the TFF, hardly anyone spoke of it or even employed it as a tactic!!!!!!!!

It has been a banner winter for numbers, now it's finally turning into a banner yr for quality!!!!!!!

Sand bass fishing in creeks has been off the hook as well!!!

GO FIND YOUR OWN!!!!!!!

RUDY

he may be using the weighted bobber to cast further . but dunno ,old.it the same as using minnows but isntead of letting it sit here and waiting for the crappie to hone in on the minnow, you are trying to enticed the fish into biting using a retreive and twitch action , finding the depth is the key.using this method it allows you to cover more areas instead of sitting there just waiting
