I don't feel bad for the homeowners in the least bit, they chose to buy that home in that location, they should understand what comes with it. Its just the same as people who own homes on golf courses complaining about balls hitting there house, it comes with the territory. I applaud menendez for making a stand on this.

The old man went too far. I'll agree with that part. But you guys that are whining about him making remarks about his last name are ridiculous. We're yall the ones that were the first to run to the teacher when someone called you Dick in elementary when you're name was Richard?

I've never run into a homeowner like that. If the guy who owns the dock is there when I'm fishing it, he usually shoots the breeze with me and asks how the day is going. What a tool.

You must not be catching fish! Haha. Wait till you start yanking 3lb'ers from under their boat houses. They will change their tone. Lol. Just kidding. Hmmm. Can't even remember the last time I caught a quality bass from under a boat house. If the water levels were low enough around here, I'd probably be trying though. Hell, as hot as it's been, I'd probably try to dock up under one myself. Lol. To the above that said he thinks the homeowners ask for it by owning a lake front house. They DONT own the water. They do own the property floating on it though. And that's what gets the homeowners fired up. It's coming out to the boat house to find property damage, boat damage, "Florida carbon" hanging from the railings and lights, z man plastics melted to the deck, etc. haha.

I agree that homeowners do not "own" the water around their docks, boat houses etc, but neither do any of us. To imply that its just too bad if the homeowners property gets damaged by someone fishing is wrong. While anyone is within their rights to fish the area, they do not have any rights to damage anyone's property. If you are casting/flipping around a boathouse and damage or break something, you are libel for damages.

But i, as I assume most responsible fisherman do, try to get said objects unhung off docks. Sometimes it's not possible while staying in boat. In those cases it's cut or break the line 99% the time. I've had a few cases where hung up and homeowner was outside, ask them if I can get on dock and get bait. They all told me please do and thank me for being considerate. I'm sure that's a major exception to the rule though.

Had a similar thing happen to me at a lake on the south side of Rochester NY. Fishing grass beds 100 yards from shore. Guy came out in his boat, yelling at me and doing circles around me so close I could not even cast. I finally made a flip and let him have a whole spool of 65# braid in his prop. Have no idea what set the guy off.

I think we sometimes forget how we would feel if it was our property. How would someone in a boat feel if a person sitting on the bank or dock cast/flipped out and hit our boat with a jig or other big piece of lead and chipped the gel coat? Would not make me happy for sure.....

The hate crime stuff is bordering on being dramatic. I agree on pushing the harassment charges though. Then again I dount Menendez really cares what I agree with or not agree with.
