Headed to Burleson this weekend and want to get out on my kayak on sun. Looking for a good place to hit with quality fish. I prefer flipping/pitching grass and reeds but will also go deep if need be. So where do you think I should go. Also local ponds are Def not out of the question either!!!

I can't speak for the most recent fishing report but close to Burleson and "user friendly" for kayaks would be Lake Alvarado off US 67 just a few miles west of Alvarado and Lake Pat Cleburne right on US 67 a little west of Cleburne. Alvarado is small and has lots of reeds with water in them across from the lone boat ramp. Pat Cleburne has lots of flooded vegetation with the new full lake level. There is an upper boat ramp on the far upper end of lake where the Nolan River enters the lake. This ramp is immediately on the right after US 67 crosses over the narrow upper end. Very user friendly here for your yak. I would drive an extra 20 miles to Glen Rose and fish Wheeler Branch Reservoir just a couple miles north of Glen Rose. Small beautiful clear deep lake that is perfect for your yak. No gas motors allowed. Google Maps the first two for location and you can Google Wheeler Branch Park and get all their information on the lake. Look in the Bass section here and there is a Honey Hole Magazine video of Bill Wilcox fishing Wheeler Branch just a couple weeks ago. 361V

Mike, check out wheeler. If you want a fun clear pond launch in mountain valleys back pond. Me and a buddy killed them on frogs and jigs 2 weeks ago. INo size but numbers where there.call me when you're down. I'll give you all my spots on lake Pat if you want. Alvarado is full of reeds, you may check it out too.

Alvarado all day. Flipping reeds there is a blast for numbers (usually not real big fish holding to reeds) and tons of great fish all around the lake.

Quailty? Like big fish... Fork is 2 hours away...
alvarado has been the little fish capital of central texas since the rain... I fish out there once a week if not more...
wheeler is cool and different and not expensive from a kayak... went 2 weeks ago, worst trip I've had there, we caught 2...
I'd look into benbrook for size...
Havn't been to pat in over a month, but it can be a fun lake about 1/5 trips
unless you like sand bass and in that case pat is your spot
