Our own Jason O Brien AKA The Ninja won it... That's the second year in a row that a DFW guy who had never been on the lake before took top honors... I got 3rd. I think the lake was fishing a little different Saturday than it had for the Austin guys during prefishing and that was to our favor. It was a blast but man you wanna talk about being tired on the drive home!!!!

Congrats on the showing DFW fellers. Ya'll definitely earned your winnings. Dennis here, I helped Chris with sign in. Without a doubt, this was the most uncomfortable fishing conditions I've ever been in. The air temp was around a hundred at the start and the surface water 95-98 degrees with a mild SE wind. One would think conditions would improve at night but I didn't find that to be true. Around 4a, it was still over 80 with a dewpoint of about 78....muggy to say the least! Every time the wind blew, a hundred degree fog of surface water would wash out the constant influx of bugs and bats. Finally around dawn, we got some short lived relief but it was over by then. It is a good tourney but I'd only recommend it to those accustomed to Africa type hot and really Jonesing for a fishing fix LOL

will there be any tournaments like this in DFW area when the weather is tolerable, say high 50's-mid 70's

Chris puts on a really laid back, enjoyable event, and this year's D2D was no exception. As for the DFW boys cleaning up again this year, yep... we got Ninja'ed. The lake fished considerably different than it had during pre-fishing and I couldn't find fish except in one of my spots, and they weren't big. My own twenty-plus bass landed may sound good, but on Lake Bastrop with eleven-plus hours of work, that's not a good catch rate. Still, the camaraderie was exceptional, the competition was fun and not at all stressful, and plenty of limits were caught.
Congrats to Jason, Tom, and some of the other non-locals who came to fish the event and placed high. We certainly enjoyed having you fish with us and hope more of you make it down next year.

Yes... Chris did a great job and everyone who helped put it on should be commended. The Austin guys are always so hospitable when we go down there. Just a great group of dudes. I think the "home lake" jinx might be in effect here maybe just a smidge. I know it hurt when Bobby LeBeuf came up here and beat us all on Ray Bob a couple seasons back so we all had to drink from that can of skunky Pabst before ourselves... They also dominated on Palestine this spring. There's a KATS event on Athens in September and I think that lake is gonna set up well for some of those guys' style. It will definitely be a battle if their big guns show up..
