I took his post the wrong way...that's on me...I have since apologized for the rude name calling. It was immature and petty of me...and me and Kirk actually have been talking via FB and 2e got everything cleared up..again. to everyone. I am sorry for the name calling. I shouldn't have said that.

I have seen Dawson Hefner post dozens if not hundreds of helpful comments on technique, bait, hook types, etc but not capt Kirk! I'll bet I've posted more tips than he has and I'm not even a guide. I'm just a fisherman that has a passion for gar fishing. Most of Kirk's post are pics of his clients with gar they catch which is great. There are not many people who post in the roughfish/carp section so the more the merrier even if its just pics and advertising. My 2cents I'm going fishing now!

I have not posted a lot on here this year due to being so busy staying on the fish for my clients due to high water I have done more on Facebook than anything else as it's so easy to post too Any one that has ever messaged me privately either Facebook, here or by email, phone etc I have taken the time to reply to them to answer any questions they had ,sometimes when they call at 9:30 to 10:30 at night when I get up at 4 every morning so if that bothers you so be it I can't please everyone By the way as being a advertisement for my business, I think I have booked 2 1 day trips from here but do appreciate the new clients I think most people here want to fish this coming weekend and I am lucky enough to be booked up for nearly every day long in advance

It sounds like everybody is happy enough now and Duck is single handidly responsible for the 1 fish limit rule which does more for the gar than anything he could say or do here on the tff.

I've seen Captain Kirk and Dawson Hefner post dozens if not hundreds of helpful comments on technique, bait, hook types, etc. This is the peak of guiding season right now and conditions are indeed not great. On top of that, fishing 7 days a week starting every morning super early for people that have flown in from the other side of the world hoping for the fish of a lifetime.
I'd bet Kirk is awful sorry he didn't have the time to explain his entire strategy for catching them in high water, but from my stand point I'd say the "cocky pr*ck" comment was a heck of an overreaction. My apologies also to duck for my over reaction, I think I misinterpeted his intenions of his post. If I just had a dime for every time I srewed up I could retire.

the trinity is about 10 feet higher than i would want to be one it in a small boat. the flow is fast and there are trees that go downriver. i saw some scary whirlpools with the river about 5 feet lower than it is now that looked like they could eat a boat. with a big enough boat and enough HP you could get on the river but getting baits to hold isnt going to be all that easy. the river is falling just slowly kind of amazing really how much water has gone through there..

"I am still catching alligator gar in the river but most people are not its probably too high for you to catch them right now
My clients have had 4 fish over 200 lbs this year" Those sound like statements of fact and the experience of someone who knows river conditions. I listen and learn from people with experience and always enjoy the pictures and posts. I am unfamiliar with the Trinity; I just checked and it is running at around 4,500 cfs right now. I don't hit the water in my kayaks at that rate. I feel safe (safer) below 2,500 cfs on the Brazos. Ray

I'm pretty fearless after taking my 12ft flat bottom out on the kansas river when it's running over 20,000cfs earlier this year. But I guess maybe this was god protecting me...cuz my fever continued to rise to a high 103.6. And they presume that I have been infected by west nile virus or lyme disease but the test results won't be back til tomorrow. So we shall see...my fever went down to normal this morning. But as of 20 min ago it's climbed to 100.2 again...keep me in your prayers please...
