Anybody have a report on how deep they are catching catfish at Hubbard? Any help would be appreciated.

I fished two different spots north of the east I-30 bridge in about 25 foot of water and only had two bites. I saw a boat sitting about a mile back in the trees. It was in the same spot for a long time so I told my brother that they must be on the catfish in shallower water. As we slowly moved toward them we noticed two boats together - a big pontoon and a smaller bass boat - and they were waving their arms frantically. We motored close to them and found out that they were stranded/broke down - both boats! Our fishing was done. We dragged the big pontoon back to the public ramp and as it was getting dark went back and dragged the bass boat back to the marina. They had been stranded for four hours and were happy to get off the lake. I'll give it another try next week.

I wonder if they hit a stump? I've been seeing boats running wide open out in the timber the last few times out. Seeing that makes me draw up, knowing what's just below the surface. It's like people think, I'll just dodge the trees that are above the water and be ok, wrong. For every tree that's above the water line, there are twenty just below the surface, in that area.

Been on the bad end of that rope before, sure is nice when guys like you show up.
