I am going to try again to really start fishing soft plastics. I have a St. Croix - Triumph Casting Rod (7', MHF, 1pc, TRC70MHF)and a Shimano Citica 200D. I know its probably not the best setup, but what line would you guys put on this and what would be its best use? Set it up for throwing big worms/creatures. Carolina rigging?

Just looking for the best use of this rod and reel combo.

Get some Berkley Big Game Mono 15lb test. This is generally the most universal line you can use that will allow Top Water but still have good success with regular T-Rig and C-Rig techniques. If you opt for Fluorocarbon be aware that it is more pricey and the line sinks so if you want to fish plastics or topwaters it will interfere with that floating action. If you fish lakes that are MORE clearer then you might consider 12lb Big Game Mono, BUT for deeper T-Rig or C-Rig you run the risk of breaking off more often. I would recommend the Berkley Big Game Mono 15lb. Inexpensive but very good durable multipurpose line. Good abrasion resistance, not bad memory moderate stretch for good hook sets. (AND if you get some of the Line conditioner spray like Reel Magic that will even help more with any cold weather memory coils.)
The next posts you will be seeing will be allllll the other variety of lines. Kinda like "do you like Chevy, or Ford, or Dodge?" Everybody has a brand preference.

That's a nice fast action MH rod for Trigs, Jigs, crig . The specs on the rod are 10-20lb line with lure weight 3/8 to 1oz.

Line type is personal preference. A good compromise of the benefits of fluoro and mono would be a copoly of fluor+mono line line. Example: 15-20lb Pline CX copolymer (cheaper than 100% fluoro also)--better sensitivity and less stretch which are beneficial for Trig and jigs. For Crig, I'd use 15-20lb Pline CX mainline to 15lb Mean Green copoly leader. Mean Green is a different copolymer (mono+silicone) and it floats and stretches.

My personal preference for this rod would be 20-30lb braid to 20lb fluoro leader for Trig and jigs.

I like Power Pro 50# on my plastics rod, it has the same diameter of 12lb mono. I don't fish a leader for Trig most of the lakes I fish have enough of a stain that I don't think it's necessary, I really like the braid because I typically try to get my Trig far back in the "stuff".

Big Game is good line for the price. I like P-Line Voltage and McCoys mean green co-polymer lines better but they are more expensive than Big Game. I would choose 15# test also for Tx. rigging with your set up.
