 outboard part identification (2005 honda 4 stroke 15hp)

anyone know what this part is or what it does? thinking it could be important and preventing my motor to run properly! looks broken and noticed it kept coming unplugged every time i open my cover. if you're looking at my motor from the back its on the left side about halfway up the top half of the motor if that makes sense. 2005 honda 15 hp 4 stroke. thanks!

Looks like a temp sender to me. How many wires are on it
Justin 63lb, 2 58lb, several 40's, 38lb, and several 20lb yellas.

it has 2 wires coming from it and it sits in like a wiring harness
