Just wondering if anyone else has been giggin lately? Even with the cold weather moving through my buddy and I went several weekends in a row here lately. The last trip I gigged one that was 24" and one that was 22", other than that on the same trip the small one was 17" and we had 12 that night. Several other trips we are still getting one or two that are right at 20" or better. My buddy got his first that broke 22" and we ended up with 14 that night. If I could figure out how to add pics I would post some. I have them on my harddrive but can figure out how to paste them to this page.

Went last Turkey day weekend but was skunked. Want to go out again in next couple of weeks. Problem is that I don't know many good spots, plus we wade. Have been going on the east side of SLP. Any advice where other good spots are?

Welcome g/c......try the flats off Pelican Island, Galveston (mind the rays) and around the quarantine station. West bay around 8 mile road......lots of accessible flats.

Good Luck!

A good giggin spot is horseshoe lake on bolivar by the tubes before the road turns right down the intercoastal. Another spot is the "Lagoon" by the old concrete coastguard staion that used to stand on the north end of seawall. Any body going??? Would love to make a run sometime soon http://texasfishingforum.com/forums/images/icons/default/thumbs_up.gif cuz if I dont http://texasfishingforum.com/forums/images/icons/default/cry.gif

Went to the "Lagoon" last Friday night (12/15)Started out real foggy, but eventually cleared up. Got five that night one going 20". This is the only place i have been and have had pretty good luck. Would love to try other places, but not too sure where else to try, espically going by myself. Any suggestions?

Leo, where is the quarantine station?

Thanks,

T-bird

Gigg'n next weekend.

Guys, anyone let me know where the Lagoon or the Old Coastguard station are located, or any other decent spots? Have family in from Canada and want to take them gigging. Have gone to a few spots around SLP, but haven't been too productive.

Go down 45 to Galveston
45 will turn into Broadway on the island
Continue straight pass the city
You will notice a body of water on the right, this is the lagoon
Continue until Broadway dead ends, make a right
Park around here and fish, this is near where the lagoon connects to the bay

You can also park before broadway ends on the side of the road. There are paths down to the water

Good luck. I live near there so hit me up if ya'll want some company.

luckyjet,

Care to give a green horn some hints where some good spots are? Have bought the fishing maps of Galveston bay and am just waiting for spring. Been told about the Lagoon, but here there may be some good spots up around texas city and around the causeway.

Always looking for advice.

Well there are some flats that are good from time to time down around 8 mile rd. Also down around San Luis Pass on the Bay side but you need to watch out for Rays down there!!!

Kim said our place at Rock Port is starting to show some. They had one over 7lbs.Monday night and six more nice ones.Said they covered alotof water though. They didn't see your gator this time. They're going again next Monday, I'll let you know how it is.
