How do you go about pressure (and Vac test) a lower unit?
I have a 2000 johnson 150 that has a leak somewhere. I bought the boat used and it already had some trotline wraped in the prop shaft seal. I replaced the seals and I have been changing My oil about every 4 months and it still comes out milky.
What fittings and methods do you use. Thanks for any replies.

Think we could use a how to section so the DIY'rs don't post questions that have already been asked here.
Thanks

To pressure check or vacuum check a l/u you need a Stevens Pressure and Vacuum tester. These tools can be bought thru most dealers parts dept., but by the time you spend the money on these tools you could have a shop do it for you.

Made mine. All you need is some way to put pressure into lower. A hand pump with fitting that fits lower unit drain plug. Oil fill kits have the fitting just have a shrader valve outside the fitting. I use regulated air pressure with a gauge so I can let set holding pressure to check. Look at the prop seals real good and be shure you installed them correctly and sealed them on outer side good. Good Luck
