Which boat? I'm having to chuckle a little 'cause I bet a number of folks didn't get to fish as much as they wanted for having to move so the Mako could go by....LOL! I know sometimes the fish stay out and sometimes they go around the boat constantly....which one did this do? Timmy, 1st mate on the Express, was trying for a big mako a couple years ago when he caught the current world record Black Grouper...ya never know. Give me a little more detail as I fish w/ DD quite often.

Brandon.. Dolphin Docks has good capatains, crew. but the boats move SLLLLOOOOWWWWWWW. Deep Sea Headquarters has good capatains, crew and boats move nicely. (equates to more fishing time). For a shark trip I would charter a smaller boat for 4-6 people. I talked to a guy across the booth from ours - and will be using him this spring for a shark, snapper trip. Reel Threels out of freeport. he has a nice setup with lodging right at the dock.

That's a great catch! For those of you wanting to do some shark fishing, you don't have to charter a boat. LOT'S of sharks can be caught from the surf. It's cheap, loads of fun, and catching and releasing a huge shark on the beach is an amazing rush!

Man it is refreashing to see no one get bashed for keeping a legal fish. Unlike some other boards. Great catch!!

Wow Randy...what a feat. The last time I was on the Express I broke off something big (my own rig) and about 20min later a guy hooked an 8' hammerhead....fought about 30 min on boat rig, got it to the rail and it broke off. It was neat for everyone to get a close look before it went back - one of those quick releases..LOL! Thanks for the report and additional info.
