Found some hungry Bull Rios that decided to bite. Fished a Hill Country spot the other day and caught 10 nice Rios all over 9" with the biggest going 11.25". Fish were all on nest and it took some work getting em to bite. Fish were in shallow water 6 inches to 2 feet deep and holding close to lily pads and brush piles. Most of the fish had side wounds from guarding their nest. Fish were caught using worms with a bottom technique which included a very slow retrieve. All fish were released to fight again. Catching some nice "Bull Rios". It just don't get any better.

Thanks "AJ" and Jamie for the replies. The Rio bite is starting to pick up. The creeks,lakes,and rivers are all settling down after all of the past rains. The bite should only get better!

Thanks guys for the replies! "BCasper": Rios are a warm water fish and are located in areas where there is no very cold long winters. The furthest north I have heard of a Rio being caught was in Temple Texas. I have caught em in Marble Falls and all throughout the Hill Country. Catch most of em right here in the San Antonio/south Texas area.

Years ago(2002) caught some huge rios in llano river near mason

Thanks "ripndrag" for the reply. I have heard of Rios being caught also in the San Saba River near Junction. A very cold long winter will usually kill em off!

Thanks Andrew for the reply! Right now Rios are hard to find. This past flooding has really made a mess of the patterns. On the brighter side the bite is picking up a little on the Guadalupe River Lakes.
