I would think the weight transfer sloshing back in forth would cause issues. Even with baffles.

I ask because when NOT under power, shouldn't your bass rig set pretty level in the water? Mine does not. Rear end sets low in the water even just being a 90HP Johnson. I would have thought should have set much more level on the water... JMO .... God Bless

No one makes a bassboat with the tanks that run front to back, as some have posted some models do have a more forward tank, under the seats but not running length wise.
This would make the boat too heavy on the front end and not be able to get on pad correctly to perform.

I think Triton had one that ran lengthwise in the floor, can.t remember the year and model.

My Triton TR21 had a 50 gallon tank that was centered under the seats.

I think Triton started doing that in 2013. It doesn't run the length of the floor. It does run up to my front deck. The sending unit is located under a vent just before you step up to the deck. Triton did that to get some of the weight forward. It seems everybody is getting an extra battery for their 36 volt trolling motors, adding Power Poles or Talons and jack plates. That adds a lot of weight to the back of the boat. My new 19XS has a 10" Atlas jack plate and dual Power Poles and it sits perfectly in the water. I also don't have any problems with "sloshing" or any other negative effects. It gets on plane easily & runs 70+ mph. My older TR186 has the tank located under the seats. It has dual Power Poles and an 8" Atlas jack plate. It also gets on plane easily and runs great but it does sit much lower after I added everything. I put a couple of the inflatable bumper guards between the transom and Jackplate & that helped some. If I added another battery for a 36 volt trolling motor, I think it would sit way too low even with the inflatable bumper guards. Have a Blessed Day, Mike

Lee, you're obviously not carrying enough tackle/gear, in the forward storage areas! I have a 52 gal. tank, and have to be careful of how many bags of plastic baits, are in the front compartments, or my bow sits too low.

My Nitro 929 has a 50 or 55 gallon tank at the back of the boat. When full it does seem to be a little heavy in the rear, but at half tank or so, can't really tell.

How could they make the tank run long ways? It would have to be laying in the floor between the consoles.

Not sure any boat sits level with a full tank of gas, batteries, motor and gear?

Another reason to make sure the max horsepower motor is on the boat or something very close.

My issue is mine sits cockeyed to starboard side. The ole Stratos 1760DV hence my handle with max hp of 115 hp and has 4 stroke 115 merc has 30 gallon tank under the cockpit area. Cranking battery is in back behind driver. Live well on the other side of it. I have full walk thru windshield and 2 trolling motor batteries in center under rod box along with the charger. It sets lower in the back and to the starboard side when it is just me. Between myself and the cranking battery and the deep v really no way to balance it out beside putting water in livewell or having another person on the port side. Trim tabs I guess but not the big of a deal still floats and gets on plane just fine. A little less coverage on sonar especially side scan.

I have a 30 gallon tank in the rear of my rig. Stratos...the boat sets obviously 'low' in the water when the tank is full...along with the weight of engine/tackle/batteries/etc. Would make a lot more sense, IMO, for the gas tank to 'distribute' the fuel all along the bottom of the boat. Wrong ? Just have been thinking.. 30 gallons is a LOT of weight... God Bless Lee quit putting so much gas!! You have a 90! 10 gallons is two days worth ....plus you have more ish on your boat than the Missouri

Not sure they make many boats with rear tanks anymore. So the answer is almost all brands have mid boat tanks.

They could be designed to sit level, even with the weight if the manufacturer wanted them to. I figure that there is a reason why they don't. I'm usually pointed into the wind. If not, water will come over the back. The waves have to be pretty high for them to come over the bow. You'd probably see a bunch of swamped boats if they sat more level.
