Excalibur Silver Thread is my choice of line now. I used to use P-Line, but it has bad memory in the colder weather. The Excalibur line has much less memory and I think it is very comparible in strength and abrasion resistance if not better than P-Line altogether.

Power Pro for sure.....but....why would you use a line that fish can see? Per the one-eyed monster and the Shaw Grigsby episode I saw last Saturday when they dropped different lines in the water and yep, braided lines are very visible....maybe in stained water, no where else though.

I agree with Ranger21...I don't like power pro personally but it doesn't have memory. McCoy's is awesome just a little pricey.

Excalibur Silver Thread is the most dependable & abrasion resistant mono I've tried, it's all I use now. I don't think you're going to find a mono with no memory, especially in cold weather. Trilene XL is a little softer, but still has some memory along with more stretch and less abrasion resistance. ------------------

i like to use braid with a mono leader. I like spider wire, but recently I tried power pro and it's the same with a better price.

I look at that in the same way I look at the dog food commercials; How does anyone know what a DOG thinks dogfood tastes like? Why all the pretty packaging? Does a dog care if it has chicken flavor? Do dogs eat chickens as their regular diet? (egg sucking dogs not withstanding). We can see the line, but then, we also know there's a hook in that plastic thing tied to it. I firmly believe, that if the fish had ANY notion what was going on, it would go into a dormant state, just like it does after you miss it a time or two and it decides it's not going to bite. I know people who use 80# braid in clear water in the spring to bed fish for big bass. I don't think bass are that smart, just finicky sometimes. ------------------ www.nightfishing.net

~KAT~ i totally agree... but i use 30lb spiderwire for my braid, cause i want castability, and it takes alot to break braid... for abrasion resistance i put some mono or floro.

McCoy's is the best line I have ever tried. As far as low memory and castability it is great. I can only find it at Barlows and it is about $9 a spool. To me it is worth it.

You Gotta go Power Pro. I change to Power Pro last month and do not have any plan of going back to Stren. Easy to cast, no memory, and absolutely no stretch. Great stuff.

I like PowerPro for the strength, castability and line diameter...however, I've got a big problem w/the fading issue. After a while it looks like string, instead of "line". Most users say "just color it w/a green marker"... but I'm not one to do maintenance on my fishing line...I won't buy it again until they fix this problem. In my opinion, for the $$ there's no better line than SilverThread Excalibur. I use the 17lb, and the abrasion resistance is 2nd to none. It's got extremely low memory and the strength is outstanding... just 2 more cents ------------------ StrikeWorks The Fish Won't Know What Hit 'Em!
