Awesome looking spot and great fish!!
I haven't seen a lot of Rios being caught. Is it still too early or has the rain effected them?

Thanks Mitch,Jamie, and "AJ" for the replies! Mitch: Some of the Hill Country creeks and rivers are loaded with nice Redbreast. Great places to relax and fish. "AJ: If I was keeping fish to eat I would have taken home a bunch! Jamie: Rio patterns have changed a lot due all of the RAIN we have been having. I am starting to see some on nest. I have picked up a few nice ones on creeks and the Comal River. As for Dunlap and the rest of the Guadalupe River lakes it has been very few. The Canyon Lake overflow has the water temperature cooler on the river lakes and that is playing a MAJOR FACTOR on the Rio bite. Just my opinion. Hopefully the bite will pick up in July.

That's interesting. Cold water can't be good for a tropical fish. Hope it doesn't stunt the population.

It is just almost poetic to pull fat gills out in the middle of lily pads! Awesome setting.

Love those Hill Country sunnies. Nice fish Chuck. Good job.
Side Note: Have you fish the Blanco River since the floods?

Thanks "Gitter" for the reply. I have not fished the Blanco River or the ponds in that area since the floods. Plan on fishing that area soon.

Spoke with a good friend of mind who lives in Blanco. He said that the Blanco State Park is closed and will not open until either October or November. He said it got completely flooded in May. He said the Blanco River was 43 feet over flood stage which is the highest it has ever been. A major bridge was also washed away. Don't think I will be fishing that area any time soon.

Another nice report Chuck! Love the Hill Country Gills too. Hoping to get dow to Austin in the next couple weeks to visit my cousin and kayak with him. Any pics of the flood or what it looks like now?
Don't worry about the mule, just load the cart
