I think Little Elm Park is closed from the floods and not sure it will be operational before the GTG. Are there any Plan B sites?

I'm not the event promoter (we're actually sharing an event with another group) but with the flooding that we have on the way I would bet that a Fall G2G is probably going to be the solution. hmmm

I beleive LE park is still open, the beach however is closed ( and far under water ).
I have seen some kayaks out on the water , floating over the beach.
Probably need to check with the city to see if it is OK to have an event out there.

I'm sure the event planner is in close contact with the city.
It takes more than space for a huge event than it does to just launch.
We have the possibility of 5 to 7 more inches of rain this week which could also be a game changer.
As we get closer I'm sure Aris will post updates as to the status.
Keep an eye on this post for updates!

If past floods are any indication, I wouldn't plan anything till the fall.

The Paddle Fest at LE Park has been cancelled. Therefore, we will not be having our G2G there on the 11th either. Aris did ask me last night to look at some alternative locations. I will begin the search this weekend. We had it last year at East Fork on Lavon and that proved to be a great venue. I'm going there this Saturday to check it out.

Stay tuned!

Spoke with the USACOE and they said "the park" is open. The group pavilion is still blocked out and not available for reservation. They suggested that we check back in a week to see if that changes. SO, we're still on hold.

Ive been out there multiple time in the last 2 weeks. The guys at the gate tell me that you cannot launch a Kayak from anywhere in the park. Ive been meaning to call the COE, because I think that policy is absurd.

But a good portion of east fork is under water. A lot of the tables, the bathrooms, etc...

Hi Folks, we've just determined that Elm Fork at Lavon is also still closed. We had hoped to move the event from Little Elm to Elm fork but that is not possible. We are going to reschedule this GTG for a later date in hopes that the current lake conditions will improve. Other sites were considered but cost, camping and safety considerations make this postponement necessary.

We will determine a new date and site soon.

Sincerely
Aris
