Those look nice. Heard good things about Avets... Let us know how they cast.

I wouldn't pay $20 for them. I don't get the no levelwind thing. Sure you can use your thumb but why?

If you take the level wind off an ABU it will cast longer.

hmmm I'll never understand people like this. The guy just wants to try something different. Those are awesome reels.

30lb mono will be fine, mines loaded with 25lb mono. No reason to get fancy with a top shot or anything. Did you find the info on static magging? Shoot me a PM if you want and I'll show you exactly what I did. It's very simple.

Mono magged my 10000ct. Could use a little more stopping power though.

They look great...that isn't the problem. I would love to find an affordable replacement for the Abu 6500s because I am constantly having to tighten handles. The handles are also not tough enough and can bend.

If your thumb is coordinated enough go for it....just definitely not for me.

You can cast MUCH further without a levelwind. If he really needs the distance then it makes sense, but if not I'm with you and would just go with a levelwind.

That $20 comment did seem a little critical in retrospect. I apologize. I guess I am just a little grumpy because all my favorite lakes have been flooded, and the fishing hasn't been too good on the others. lol_2
