Just thought I would share this info. The LBJ Grasslands, effective starting on June 5 2015, are closed at the moment. All cattle guard drive-thru entries, which just so happen to include just about every lake and pond out here, have barricades with signs posting this. The official wording is that all sectors are closed due to health and safety concerns. The actual reason is due to hazardous road conditions. The roads out here have been getting worse over the past 3 years or so, and the recent flooding we had really made it horrendous. The back side of black creek had ravines in the middle of the road that were four feet deep! Just wanted to share this info with you folks. Buddy of mine asked if he could park off by the gate entries and just walk to lakes. I told him I personally wouldnt try it. The signs they posted say the sectors are closed to all vehicles and persons. It stinks but I am hoping they will get on the repairs soon so that the lakes and ponds out here can be fished again. Take care folks!

Well that's not good to hear. Was planning on taking my daughter and grandson up for camping later this month.
Maybe the military is conduct secret training exercises for when they take over Texas.

The fishing was good; it was the catching that was bad. ~A.K. Best

Thanks for the info. Been a while since I have been up there and I was planning to check out Rhodes and Clear this week. Saved me a little gas and and a lot of frustration.
This might be the weirdest, most pointless post ever. I am not against golf, since I cannot but suspect it keeps armies of the unworthy from discovering fishing

Are the Grasslands still closed? Are all the lakes closed? My neighbor's son is coming to visit and wants to go fishing. I was hoping to take him out there some where tomorrow. Thanks

Thanks for posting this notice. Sucks to hear, but hopefully they are making the repairs and is reopened soon.

I have fished Rhodes a few times over the last month. The barricades had been taken down and no signs indicating that the access road was closed. Went this past Saturday afternoon and there was a road closed sign up. Little birdie told me people were still using it though. Road is passable with a truck (2 or 4WD), but wouldn't want to try it with a car or in poor light as you have to navigate a couple of good size ruts.
The information on the website has changed since the last time I had checked it. A few weeks ago, I could swear it only listed 2-3 roads that were closed. Now its listing all closed "except ..." So I assume there were some roads open (like Rhodes Lake access) that are now "re-closed".
