Went out for the third time in my new kayak tonight and have figured out a few things I need and where to put some stuff. I have a jackson big tuna and I went out on lavon today on the east side to get in some trees and fish with a bober and minnows. But the wind was to much to even stay somewhat in the same spot and I didn't even have a rope to tie off to anything so spend a few hours just paddling around and checking out the area. So I know I need to get some rope to tie off with but also need to get setup with an anchor. Any ideas or suggestions would be welcome.

I've probably tried just about every anchor out there on my powerboat and my kayak.
What I have found about anchors is there really isn't just one that will work everywhere and what I mean is if you fish rocky areas and brush you need one that won't hang up as bad and end up staying at the bottom when you get ready to leave.
The best one I've found that even comes close to a good all around anchor was the dumb bell weight that they sell in the gym equipment section at walmart. A five to eight pound is all you need to hold a kayak.
It rarely hangs up in rocks and brush, and you can kiss a claw type in that situation.
If you fish in sandy bottoms you can get by with the claw type and my favorite for muddy bottoms is the Bruce Claw. The Bruce claw you have to let out more rope than the others but it holds even in a stiff wind.
You normally have to put out at least three times the depth. so if you are in ten feet of water you need to put out at least thirty feet of line. You can get by with a lot less of course if it's not windy.
Your best friend anchoring a kayak is to install an anchor trolly.

Awesome, thanks a bunch for the info. Have been looking at a few of the kits. I am leaning towards the Yakgear heavy duty kit. Is it worth the money or is there a better kit to go with. If I go with that what else am I going to need looks like a anchor and just the line.

After you rig your kayak with the anchor trolley you might want to rig your anchor like the one in this link.

I have mine rigged similar with the float and it makes it easy because you don't have a bunch of anchor line in your kayak to tangle up on everything.
The anchor rope is wound up around the float.
As mentioned in the video, if you catch a large fish or if you need to take a break and want to return back to the same spot, you can easily disconnect and then return to your float and reattach.
As for the kits, I like the smallest pulleys. (mine was a Native kit) You don't need a heavy cord even for an anchor rope. There isn't a lot of strain or force that requires anything heavy duty.
You will also find that a brush gripper comes in handy to hold you in place if there is trees in the water. Any kind of clamp with a 3' line attached to it will work.

Got the trolley in today and got it put on tonight. Did it a little different than the instructions but I like how it turned out and is going to work.













Now to get some stuff to make a anchor line and float.

I made my own. I bought all the parts from various stores and assembled it myself. I've been meaning to take a video to show how and what I did. The best thing about my anchor trolley, I can remove the pulleys and the lines. I can take it off if needed and it's 100% adjustable so I can tighten or loosen things as needed as well. I think I spent like $20 for the whole thing.
I'll try and get a video of what I did this weekend.

it looks like you did a great job making a clean installation! if you used para-cord I would highly suggest adding a 4-6" loop of 1/4" bungee cord on one end, between the pulley and the clip as this will greatly help in keeping the line tight, while acting as a dampener to the eye hooks mounted to the body of the yak. Also, if you find the ring moves back and forth too easily, you can reduce to only one pulley.
