When I used to work around Irving I would see endless ponds and canals that looked fishy. Mostly off of MaCarthur G bush area

Spend a day fishing those canals. They should be loaded with fish from all the run off.

Too bad Lake Vilbig is a private lake now. I grew up in Irving and back then you could fish all the way around it. Tons of fish in it.

Wouldn't fish lake carolyn or anything connected. flooding has caused the sewer mains to overflow and all the runoff is dumping into the lake. fyi

Lake Carolyn is posted no fishing all the way around it. But if you look on google there are lots of ponds / canals that you can get to in Irving. Look around Royal Lane & George bush, Mac Arther and 114. The water that flows out of Hackberry Creek golf course is not to bad. Any pond in the middle of a park is fair game. I am far from an expert fisherman, but I usually throw a lipless crankbait , roadrunner jig head with pearl curly tail grub and if that fails then slow it down with a wacky rigged senko or a texas rigged worm. Good Luck and watch for snakes when in the tall grass or do like I do and stay on the sides with the mowed grass -good luck. -rob

I seen a guy catch a 20-25lb blue cat from behind the police station on riverside. It was flooded and muddy but he used cut mackerel and the fight was on. He landed it but i dont think he expected to pull a big blue from there. Made me antsy i headed to tawakoni.

Irving is a little tough right now with the sewer pipe bust running into a good chunk of the water. I'd say hit the elm fork river wherever you can find a spot. Aside from that, just hit some ponds off of macarthur, las colinas blvd, or oconnor. Fishings tough right now, but I still go cast on ponds to scratch the itch.
You might try hitting hackberry creek too. Behind red hot and blue? I want to try it soon.

Elm Fork is handling a TREMENDOUS amount of water right now, but if you can find bank access, it can pay off handsomely. As far as big blues behind the police station, PRIMO SPOT! Big flatheads there too.
